Syngenta SBI Facts and Figures:

Ciba-Geigy (a legacy company of Syngenta) first established a biotechnology research facility in Research Triangle Park in 1983. The facility has grown and developed since then, including expansion of the labs and greenhouses in 2000, and the addition of the Mary-Dell Chilton Center in 2002.

SBI researchers come from some of the most prestigious agricultural universities in the world, and bring a breadth of experience in plant genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology.

A strategic Research & Technology site within Syngenta, SBI focuses primarily on Crop Genetics Research and also hosts a variety of support functions including experts in Intellectual Property, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

SBI research areas include: Plant Transformation, Improved Animal Feed, Improved Grain Processing, Cereal Functional Genomics, Insect Control, Disease Control, Weed Control.

There are approximately 250 employees at SBI. The company actively supports the Triangle United Way and many other local community organizations.
